The planar-magnetic flagship RAD-0 is the story of Alex Rosson finding himself. Rosson Audio Design was born as Audeze's former Co-Founder and CEO embarked on a journey of self-expression. Paths in audio design are unique, as much as our forms of enjoyment are. [See Product Desc. For More]

Individually serialised pairs of RAD-0 cups made from hand-poured resin enclose planar drivers of Rosson's own design. Each cup rim is a unique creation of art unto itself, as is RAD-0's sound.
Audiophile Style reckons it "bests all of its planar rivals and ranks among the top two or three best headphones available today", proving the point in a review complete with measurements. None of the expertise that established Alex Rosson at the forefront of this decade's planar magnetic headphones ascendency has been lost through time.
In fact, Rosson's audio engineering has taken a turn of sharper focus, honed after years of experimentation in tuning. RAD-0 is naturally transparent yet unetched, with a soundstage given room to breathe via 66mm planar film drivers under the iron grip of 11 N52 neodymium magnets.

A warm transparency envelopes and halos around with unforced ease with an approach many commentators have compared to Audeze's hallmark pre-fazored designs. Flexibility with all genres and partnering amplifiers is a given; a Rosson can never be made to sound bad. Audiophile Heaven say RAD-0 is "liquid, musical, smooth, grain-free". Ear Fidelity calls it "wildly recommended" as the "surprise of 2022".
Praise and recognition of one of Head-Fi's most prominent, important designers followed quickly. Headfonics put RAD-0 in their running of the top three headphones heard in 2019, praise only surpassed by Headfonia who crowned it their top headphone of the year and again in 2020.
Part-Time Audiophile used RAD-0 as indication of the increased clout boutique manufacturers are commanding in the sphere of luxury headphones. Darko.Audio gave this unique statement piece the full podcast treatment too.

Certified Fresh! from Rosson Audio Design is MPL-0 – Alex Rosson's renowned planar-magnetic headphone formula in its most affordable handcrafted iteration to date, as excellent-sounding as every last one. It starred for being distinctly different on Headfonics.
Rosson Audio had been an outlet for both the professional sound engineer and artist in former Audeze Co-Founder Rosson's life ... and RAD-0 had grown to encompass both endeavours.
But, when not conceptualising, hand-pouring and labouring to produce RAD-0's acrylic cups, instead replacing them with American maple wood construction – costs came down, and affordability went up. [See Product Desc. For More]
MPL-0 now is charged with the decree of bringing Rosson Audio's signature warm, transparent sound – packing a tad more mid-range pep, bite and spice – to the wider masses.
A warm soundstage emanates from MPL-0 and halos around with unforced ease with an approach many commentators have compared to Audeze's hallmark pre-fazored designs.
MPL-0's acoustic enclosure is different to that of RAD-0's – an opportunity for Rosson to implement even more intricate tensioning and dampening techniques to this maple build for sonics that punch way above its price.
No sonic compromises have been taken, with Rosson's customary 66mm planar-magnetic diaphragm under the control of 11 N52 magnets made in California, USA, showing up for the task here.
And the quiet, softly-spoken maple wood rings exude an air of ease and effortlessness, harnessing the ikigai of Rosson's life inside. There's not an excess of factors to think about, leaving your mind at rest and ease just picking up, plugging into HiBy Music's R6 III or iBasso Audio's DX240, and relaxing.
But for those of you seeking to be even more stimulated and inspired by some of the most avant-garde headphone art, make Rosson Audio's collection of unique RAD-0 builds your next stop here, or our other headphones here.

This piece has found an owner. On lazy blue days, Christian pairs Sora with the iFi Hip-Dac for portability and ease. He likes how it's fuss-free to drive, allowing for effortless detail retrieval and clear voices. Christian has searched a long time for a pair of headphones he would desire to own and walked right into a community of Rosson Audio Design owners and fans.
J-pop, Anime and Electronic music are his favourite things to listen to when plugged in, and he's now ready for the next step – a possible 4.4mm cable, or connecting balanced 4pin XLR to a DAC/AMP of choice.
Step by step, bit by bit, this piece of blue mastery will be accompanied by gear that deserves it, and serve a proud owner who picked this striking set from our collection instantly, as his to own.

This piece has found an owner and has been named Big Bang with no explanation necessary.
Its owner uses Cayin's IHA-6 and iFi Audio's Zen DAC Signature that he picked up as a package – "It's the only thing I know but it's awesome for electronic music ranging from synth, drum and bass, dub, future funk, tropical house, cyberwave to trip hop, etc".
Visually, Big Bang's design is apt because it really reminds him of the cosmos – the scale, the mystery and the undeniable beauty. Audibly, they really pack a punch and he's totally floored by the RAD-0's ability to deliver such strength, balance, precision and power.

This piece has found an owner and been affectionately named "Kintsugi". Taken verbatim from its owner, "The RAD-0 is a highly versatile pair of headphones that is appropriate for most music genres. Overall, it has a natural and coherent musicality that is dynamic and engaging, making it a sheer joy to listen to. At the same time, it excels at layering, separation, and resolution for close listening. Quite simply audio poetry."Its owner is currently listening to this via his SONY WM1Z music player and also with FELIKS Euforia when it's time for full desktop glory. When paired with Euforia, the speed and dynamics are kept optimal with a full, rich vocal tone that is fully indulgent and unforgettable. // IF IT'S NOT AVAILABLE, WHY IS IT STILL LISTED? This piece has found an owner and been named "Dharma". Elvis drew a full circle with HiFi and before the loop is just about to close, another path opens into Head-Fi when he discovered the RAD-0. We've known Elvis for a few years now, when he walks in for his weekend coffee and has always picked a headphone to listen to. One weekend, the RAD happened. His jazz playlist came alive, and vocals were textured with the right timbre. The warm, lush mids settled amongst the perfect layering of instruments reminded him of his pursuit in HiFi. His only complaint: he was trying to save some dollars by picking a pair that's half the price, but his ears wouldn't let him. He failed miserably, but left happily. Seems like resistance is futile sometimes, and we're glad he let Dharma be his. More importantly, it was right for him and it will be for a long, long time.

This piece has found an owner and been named Rigel after the brightest star in the constellation Orion.
Its owner is currently using Cayin's N8 for warmth and relaxed listening sessions while Sony's TA-ZH1ES adds soundstage and detail. Cabling is with iBasso's CB17 and Effect Audio's Leonidas, the latter enhancing the already excellent detail with sparkle.
Rigel does well with Japanese Anime soundtracks, specifically Ignited from Gundam SEED Destiny, and Daybreak Bell from Gundam 00, through excellent guitar and male vocal reproduction. Bass is deep and tight but not overwhelming while treble is bright, almost fitting the bill perfectly.// IF IT'S NOT AVAILABLE, WHY IS IT STILL LISTED?
