    Craft Ears Argentum CIEM

Built in silver, Craft Ears hint at the sense of sparkle found in Argentum. The second of the Polish brand's hybrid line-up, this dynamic and dual balanced armature release hits hard and takes charge in the bass and treble. Argentum will certainly grab your attention with its V-shaped presentation. Building on Craft Four's work but tuning down the mid-bass presence gives rise to imaging potential, with instrument placement precise in an open soundstage. [See Product Desc. For More] Bass is always fast with a 10mm carbon fibre driver that's designed to match the pistonic power of a stiffer material but with improved self-damping for a cleaner and smoother, quality low-end. This three-driver masterpiece inherits the horn-loaded tweeter of its Craft Six sibling too, matching the zeal present in the bass. A flat impedance crossover means Argentum will keep you excited no matter what source you plug into, dropping the beat that'll keep you going all day. ***Listed price covers basic colours. Craft Ears Aurum CIEM

Aurum arrives: Craft Ears enter phase two of their growth not just content to experiment with hybrids, but tri-brids too. An exciting W-shaped flagship emerges with electrostatic high frequency drivers entering the fray, flanking four balanced armatures all propped up by one large 10mm dynamic driver. W-shaped or evenly represented in the bass, mids and treble, depending on how you want to look at it. But what's not for debate is it wouldn't be Craft Ears to just count out drivers. Jedrek Nowicki releases Aurum as far greater than the sum of its parts through handy acoustic tools first seen in Craft Six. Ear Fidelity hails this flagship "one of the best CIEMs on the market at this price range". It became Everyday Listening's "personal benchmark around its asking price and will likely remain so for some time to come". [See Product Desc. For More] Aurum's dual electrostatic drivers show up in Space Expansion System (SES™) 2.0. A precisely calculated, computer modelled horn structure placed at the output to act as an acoustic amplifier sees the SPL from notoriously insensitive Sonions boosted naturally by the enclosure. SES™ 2.0 naturally bypasses any distortion caused by overly taxing the electrostatic units for more volume. Aurum presents Singapore with an electrostatic treble that promises both quantity, and quality.  Excitement about the high frequencies shouldn't distract audiophiles from Aurum's low ones, though. The polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) dynamic driver acts as a subwoofer with impressive presence in the sub-bass region.  PEN is a material ZMF Headphones bring to bear in their flagship Vérité since it "has more dynamic response than a metal". Aurum's single low driver does the work of many balanced armatures and uses PEN's excellent damping to its advantage, rising cleanly up without modal distortion to meet its mid-range drivers in a perfect hand-off that's clean and coherent.  Seven drivers are brought together by a crossover that works as a resistive load, maintaining a flatter impedance throughout the frequency range for a consistent response with more sources, whether mobile phone or high output impedance music player. It's never just about the drivers, but rather Craft Ears' careful optimisation once again to provide the platform for their tools to perform – brought beautifully together in a flagship such as Aurum. ***Listed price covers basic colours. Please consult crew for details.***Additional fees may apply depending on choice of design. ***CIEM expected lead time is 6 to 8 weeks. Craft Ears Craft SIX (C6) CIEM

Craft Ears packed six drivers into Craft Six, but that's only half of what went into a technology-laden flagship from these Polish innovators.  Geared into a well-tuned V-shape with a wide bandwidth and tasteful, never overcooked, emphasis in the bass and treble, Craft Six promises to keep you excited for a very, very long time. Those craving energy and life at the frequency extremes will be served well by Craft Six's proprietary technologies. [See Product Desc. For More] RASEN Bass™ (Reference Acoustic Spiral Enhanced Bass) is a patent-pending solution – precisely calculated and designed 3D printed structure – that creates low-end notes as realistic as a true subwoofer. Meanwhile, SES™ (Space Expanse System) is Craft Ears' very own field-specific, 3D printed, horn-loaded tweeter tuned in a very particular bandwidth. Bringing to the field unique inventions to continue the development of the venerable balanced armature, Craft Six is the beginning, and the end, of your search for a TOTL IEM. Headfonics praise the company for "ensuring the BA drivers are not overly pushed and peaky to deliver that natural and very balanced sounding tone", Twister6 checking off the "clarity, resolution, realism" requirements for a flagship. The Headphone List reserves mention for Craft Six's dynamic-like power, and Ear Fidelity, its speed and clinical approach. Headfonia round out the accolades with a Recommended Buy award, recognition for Craft Six "getting the very most out of its drivers with a technically strong performance and a smooth musical tuning". ***Listed price covers basic colours. AAW Z06 CIEM

Lucky number '6' goes onto Advanced AcousticWerkes' latest budget wonder – the Z06. Building on their experience with the 4+2, they've taken the same six drivers but completely reinvented the formula.  More complete than its 4+2 predecessor that ruled the mid-range and imparted a cream to vocals and instruments, Z06 extends its emphasis to the extremes. The star of Z06's show is undoubtedly its pair of isobaric dynamic drivers. AAW have had multiple iterations to perfect its 6mm dual dynamic set-up, and it shows with its kind of performance in the low frequencies here. Z06 hits hard and fast in the lows, small diameter drivers granted plenty of speed while able to move sufficient air due to their surface area – a direct result of their doubling up as an isobaric pair. [See Product Desc. For More] AAW's implementation of their BassFlow Vent Pressure System grants Z06 both the air volume necessary to produce prodigious quantities of bass and has the added benefit of damping the drivers when they move out of phase. That provides optimal control. Z06 hits hard and fast but never becomes overbearing, as its low-frequency drivers stay locked under the grip of neodymium magnets. Thankfully, the rest of Z06's performance stays as good as its bass. AAW's dynamic drivers count on great damping owing to their humble 6mm proportions to climb up in frequencies without cone break-up. Mids stay clean as the handover to Z06's balanced armatures is performed seamlessly. As much thought about implementing Z06's higher frequencies took place. Its 3D-printed acoustic cavities leverage powerful computer simulations. By simulating hundreds of driver and nozzle configurations, AAW meticulously analysed each iteration to identify the perfect balance of phasing, response and overall acoustic performance in Z06. AAW ensure every element works in perfect harmony, resulting in superior sound quality. Z06 is a bottom-to-top budget banger, granting you excitement with its V-shape while maintaining its audiophile sensibilities. Canpur CP622B CIEM

    Canpur CP622B CIEM

Balanced armatures for bass, and bone conductors for mids, lead to Canpur's CP622B possibly ending 2023 as the year's most compelling flagship earphone for its refinement of tone, realism and accuracy. Please refer to the artwork guide here. Twister6 knew Canpur were more than just flavour of the month when he heard them. This 10-driver tri-brid promises a lightness of touch and represents the finest of juggling acts that leads to arguably one of 2023's most complete propositions. The debut of Sonion's bone conduction drivers in balanced armature format size, that doesn't take up tons of space and require a lightning bolt to drive? Yes, please.  Indeed, implementing them to reproduce mids and highs has led to a deftness, sweetness and softness of transients that at once promises to be the Goldilocks of everyone's taste and tolerance. CP622B bursts onto the scene late but better than never, because Head-Fi has been waiting for a package that sounds so effortlessly life-like, from bottom to top. [See Product Desc. For More] By being unconventional in their custom driver selection from Sonion – an abundance of balanced armatures handling low-frequency reproduction for fast and accurate bass packing plenty of rumble and presence – Canpur head into 2024 with a true statement of intent. CP622B incorporates an original micro-inverter tube design within its cavity, a design enhancing the cohesion of low frequencies when compared to traditional ordinary air outlets. The debut of bone conduction drivers from Sonion for the mid and high frequencies then provide all the natural tone audiophiles could crave. The dual diaphragm of its co-directional vibration efficiently utiles the auricle and bone layer of the ear structure to transmit sound to the auditory nerve for a visceral portrayal of vocals and a 3D soundstage. Forget about chasing top specs – Advanced AcousticWerkes are all about creating a truly immersive listening experience at any level, and M20 is proof. Expected wait time for a CIEM is 12 weeks. This entry-level IEM is the result of a year of research dedicated to achieving this goal. It features a large, powerful woofer that delivers deep, layered bass, paired with AAW's innovative NOVA driver - think of it like a super tweeter for your ears! [See Product Desc. For More] This combination lets you hear every detail, from rich vocals to subtle ambient sounds. The M20 might look familiar - it's a revival of one of AAW's first models from 2015. Back then, it used Sonion acuPass technology. This time around, we've modernised it with cutting-edge tech: digitised acoustic design, 3D printing and their own NOVA drivers. Even though it uses a simple 2-driver design, the M20 punches above its weight. The drivers are expertly chosen and implemented to faithfully reproduce audio. Here's a deeper dive into the tech: the M20 uses a specially designed armature driver with a unique open vent. This driver sits deep within the 3D-printed nozzle, placing it incredibly close to your eardrum. This eliminates sound pressure loss and avoids resonances that can occur in traditional balanced armature designs. Check out AAW's other items here, or view all our other IEMs here.

    Vision Ears VE6XC (CIEM)

From Vision Ears, the classic VE6XC comes with a stunningly open stereo-image and an outstanding clarity. Six balanced armatures, carefully optimised for Amin and Marcel's requirements, provide the platform for this Cologne company to combine the two tunings that popularised the VE6X1/X2 into one shell – either toggled by way of a switch. Tuning X1 defined the basshead audiophile segment, with a veritable lushness and liquidity to voluminous lows that rise to meet a mid-range that never veers into stridency, before a transition to an airy treble. Korean K-Pop fans will flock to this tuning. Tuning X2 plays the advantage of a different crossover path that gives general genres a flatter, more neutral bass. VE6X2 delivers more presence in the high frequencies and boasts tremendous headspace. Vocals and instruments remain well defined but never verge on edginess, taking a step back preserving realistic distances. Film scores and OSTs are brought to life with X2. In both configurations, VE6XC is an exceptional earphone that will delight you with its outstanding clarity and fidelity to music. A tremendous value, virtually two different IEMs in one shell, VE6 can still be configured as VE6X1/X2 for greater cost-effectiveness, should you be dead set on a single signature. VE7 gives you so much. So, so much. This is a Vision Ears masterclass jam-packed with resolution you don't even have to go looking for, and its accurate tonal balance doesn't hurt either. A new balanced armature from Knowles takes the spotlight as this seven-driver IEM's tweeter. Its transparency and texture can't missed – VE's craftsmen took this new unit and extracted the maximum potential from it via their implementation, supported by new ported Sonion BA counterparts. Backing up the highlight high frequency performance is a mid-range and bass that are tonally saturated and buzzing with zeal. While accuracy and neutrality is VE7's pitch, never does it stray into sterility.  A great performance is always entertaining, and Vision Ears did everything to keep our attention from beginning to end. Headfonia added it to their Recommended Buys list for "end-game technical performance, a fantastic treble response, incredible resolution, and transparency". Headfonics add on to the accolades for "more nuance with a very refined treble and just enough warmth and body", and Twister6 round out the praise for "VE gave neutral a whole new meaning where you can enjoy the sound without a need for a bass boost or a colouring". Vision Ears Elysium (CIEM)

    Vision Ears Elysium (CIEM)

This is what innovation fetches you. Vision Ears created a legacy for their Elysium so resilient, it's in the reckoning today as one of Head-Fi's most compelling flagship tri-brid options. Elysium was among the first to bring Sonion's electrostatic tweeters to market, but Vision Ears added to the novelty by designing a dynamic driver to handle the mid-range, packing a single balanced armature for the bass. What materialised was a four driver tri-brid that has endured and prospered against the test of time. [See Product Desc. For More] Dual Sonion electrostatic tweeters made Elysium stand out at launch, though it was the use of a single dynamic driver for the mids that was the Vision Ears masterstroke. Acoustics were optimised for this moving diaphragm via their High-precision Acoustic Levelling Chamber (HALC). Working in tandem, HALC allows Elysium's dynamic driver to play smooth and rich through the middle frequencies, yet pack plenty of resolution in a natural manner. Designing their own dynamic driver from scratch, Vision Ears were able to optimise its size for the perfect hand-off between its bass and treble counterparts. Crafted for mid-range frequencies a small and agile driver was up to the task coming down to take over from its bass balanced armature sibling, before in turn passing up to the treble electrostats with minimal cone or modal break-up.  Pistonic motion is also ensured by a high-order Vision Ears crossover keeping their dynamic driver perfectly in its comfort zone without overlap.  Elysium's mid-range quality is in line with what you expect from balanced armature bass and electrostatic treble – these driver technologies famed for turning on a dime to produce effortless transient response and detail. Quantity's not a problem either. Bass and treble heads will be endlessly entertained by Elysium. Headfonics and Headfonia rightfully grasped the significance of this pioneer when they first heard it. The tri-brid execution was done so perfectly to Twister6's ears, he never felt jaded. It was down to The Headphone List to suitably put it: there can only be one Elysium. Elysium is also available in universal (UIEM) form. Otherwise, explore the rest of Zepp's Vision Ears range here or view our other custom (CIEM) options here.

Effortless listening, defined. Vision Ears achieved the masterful feat of packing so much resolution, yet making it easily accessible, in VE8.  Two bass drivers contribute to the eight balanced armature driver count in VE8, yet they still supply a surprising amount of volume, depth and mass. This flagship saturates the lows and they get conveyed with authority, cleanly defined with tons of articulation. It's in the mids where Vision Ears pulled off the greatest trick, producing maximum information retrieval and headspace without a hint of fatigue. There is tons of insight to be gained in your music through a listen to VE8. And for even more detail, PW Audio's Genesis surfaces as an ideal upgrade cable candidate.  And yet you could listen for hours basking in the naturalness of the presentation with nary a hint of harshness. HOW TO PICK GOOD EARPHONES AND EARBUDS IN SINGAPORE?

Earphones are one of the most important everyday gadgets or accessories that can directly impact your music-listening experience, as well as your quality of life. Having a suboptimal pair of earphones while on your daily commute, such as earphones that do not seal properly, have distortions, or poor noise reduction capabilities will make your commute in the morning less pleasant due to the noise on Singapore’s public transport. A lesser known fact is that using suboptimal earphones often leads to volume being cranked up in order to “hear” or “get immersed into” the music better. However, what it does is simply damaging the stereocilia in the ears, providing permanent hearing loss to some frequencies, which is irreversible.

What about trying to recreate the immersive experience of a concert hall, stadium or an intimate studio? These earphones exist and can even be customised to fit your ears perfectly.

At Zeppelin & Co., we understand that when you are looking for a new pair of earphones in Singapore, you want to be sure of getting the best quality. Which is why we go through great lengths visiting manufacturers all over the world, ensuring that we curate the highest-quality earphones from leading brands in the industry, so you can be rest assured that your purchase is a sound investment. We have earphones for all preferences, from in-ear models to over-the-ear headphones, as well as Bluetooth earphones for those who prefer the freedom of movement that this type of wireless technology provides. They are crafted and manufactured in various places, such as Korea, Japan, Poland, the USA, and many more.

Furthermore, when deciding on which earphones to buy, it's essential to think about what you will be using them for and how they fit.

WHAT WILL YOU BE USING THEM FOR?

Do you enjoy a run, working out in a gym, or other exercise activities? When choosing earphones, one of the first questions to ask is in what scenario will you be using them. Making a choice that suits your lifestyle is crucial to getting the right type of earphone. Working out with earphones would mean they have to be secure enough, so they don’t fall off while you are on your run. If you mostly use your earphones while commuting around Singapore, your options expand significantly from wired, noise-cancelling earphones to Bluetooth earphones, allowing you to immerse in your music, and completely shut away from the hustle and bustle on the bus or train.

    CUSTOMISED OR UNIVERSAL FIT EARPHONES?

Custom fit earphones mean they are built to your ears based on a mould and will not fit anyone else. Musicians on stage usually have a custom fit to block out the other sounds distracting their performance. Universal fit is the one you see in stores all over Singapore and beyond. You can share universal fit with anyone, and these are the earphones we usually know of. Choose a customised fit for stage use, or if you have problems fitting the universal one. You can also choose to customise them just for the looks. Submit your own design, or pick from the brand’s lookbook.
