    ZMF Co-Pilot Pad

    ZMF Co-Pilot Pad

The Best Naming Award goes to ZMF Headphones in 2020! Every ZMF owner with Zepp gets the Pilot Pad, and sometimes they get it for other headphones too, but there were some that did not fit. Well, not anymore. Read what ZMF Headphones had to say about it:  "We designed the Co-Pilot to make your headphones feel weightless and it’s true! When the Co-Pilot is attached, your headphones feel like they're floating! Compared to the original Pilot Pad, the Co-Pilot offers more surface area, larger foam pads, and two-sided Velcro attachment with a thinner, sleeker profile. This design will work with headphone bands that range from 1.95in (48mm) wide and 0.1in (2.5mm) thick to 1in (25.4mm) wide and 0.5in (12.2mm) thick. The total area allotted for headband attachment is 2in (50.8mm). The Co-Pilot was designed to work with most headphones, but it’s not guaranteed to work for every headphone. If you’re one the fence, the Co-Pilot is the safer choice regarding fit." ===All pad sales are final. No returns, refunds, or exchanges for hygiene reasons.

    ZMF Headphones Verite Closed

Managing the complicated acoustic design for the Vérité driver in a closed-back headphone may have been ZMF Headphones' toughest challenge to date. But the way they pulled it off with aplomb would have given little hint to that. Expect nearly all the Vérité's beryllium-coated transparency and detail in this closed model, with the benefits of privacy and isolation to boot. Positive Feedback were rendered "speechless at how you achieved the performance you achieved with these". [See Product Desc. For More] Its driver starts with a sandwich driver core of softer plastic PEN for effective damping at higher frequencies, this surface being coated with beryllium for the metal's stiffness, lightness and air acceleration properties.  That means Vérité Closed's driver moves as a perfect piston over all frequencies up to and above its working range, keeping distortion down due to cone and modal break-up. Audiophile Style compared the closed version against its open brethren, publishing a comprehensive study complete with measurements to conclude "they're as good as anything on the market today" and what "ZMF have achieved with the Vérité is truly remarkable". Stereophile's Herb Reichert says the "Vérités come closer to [Sony's] MDR-R10s in basic sonic character than any other headphones I've auditioned ... may even exceed Sony's cult classics in their illusion of speed and transparency". It's rightfully Headfonia's "best-of-the-best in the closed-back world". Make the headphone that made Stereophile's shortlist of Headphone Product of the Year 2020 yours today. ZMF Headphones Bokeh Closed

This is the closed-back headphone from ZMF Headphones that everyone's been dreaming of. Bokeh is the first closed-back ZMF that can claim to be truly portable, with its isolation brought on the go with you in backpacks to offices and hotel rooms. It's the same ZMF quality and promise of durability sans unwieldy storage case. With customary lifetime ZMF driver warranty especially important as Bokeh gets put about the rigours of daily life, this is a build and tuning that will stand the test of time. Headfonia rates its effectiveness channeling ZMF's spirit, something Headfonics echo. It's a TechPowerUp award-winner. Brought to a new and affordable price point, the Bokeh is just the latest ZMF that stands to become a classic, bringing their cherished house sound with you on the go whether via USB dongle DAC/amp, music player or small desktop amp. [See Product Desc. For More] A natural step up from Tago Studio's T3-01 that traverses the bus then the desk, the Bokeh combines ergonomic portability with ZMF's traditional ability to scale from sound quality. ZMF's new entry-level is greater than the sum of its parts.  A new 80ohm Liquid Crystal Polymer driver is pushed to its acoustic limits with proprietary ZMF work, in their patented Atrium Damping System (ADS) first found in the flagship Atrium. All this tuning potential in earcup acoustics extends to Bokeh's owners with new Caldera earpads useful add-on options. Caldera pads bear a special fluted, tapered, horn-shaped design that take on the form of acoustic amplifiers. Leather or suede directly contribute to which frequencies you choose to enhance, making Bokeh such a pleasure because ADS makes it so versatile. Bokeh grants ZMF full control over a soundscape, with internal cavity design challenging the physical limits of linear full-range reproduction in closed-backs like never before. Acoustic dampers work closely together with driver mounting position for optimal diffusion effects, allowing ZMF to introduce greater perceived soundstage width and depth.  An incredible amount of fine-tuning took place selecting distances within the cup and damping material for optimal airflow, a five-year research and development process before ZMF deemed Bokeh ready to release to the public. Brought to a new point of cost-effectiveness is an 80ohm LCP driver that is the beating heart of Bokeh. It's a load that's simultaneously easy to drive for any partnering amplifier – such that a studio console, mixer or tube amplifier with varying output impedance mates comfortably with suitable damping factor. In fact, ZMF's newborn showcases a nominally flat impedance and thus exhibits the company's DNA, taking to tube amplification with exactly the same aplomb as its bigger siblings. Apart from frequency response being less prone to variation from impedance mismatch, Bokeh's easy load means many modern bridge-tied load outputs on music players won't grind their gears pushing into inordinately low impedances – small power supplies and output stages producing less in the way of distortion and noise as a result. Bokeh will make for a happy result running from iBasso Audio's DC07 Pro, DC Elite and DX180, but high output impedance, imperfect voltage sources from FiiO and Shanling will not be tested untowardly either – music players from the latter both having enough mettle to push this ZMF very satisfactorily.  Settling down from its travels at its natural habitat that is the desk, Bokeh will continue to display sound that belies its cost, scaling into small desktop amps from iFi Audio and HIFIMAN.  It's this versatility that really elevates Bokeh beyond the generic releases that otherwise dominates the mainstream. ZMF Headphones AtriumZMF Headphones Atrium

    ZMF Headphones Atrium

ZMF Headphones bring you Atrium, a new co-flagship designed with a tried-and-tested biocellulose dynamic driver plus Atrium Damping System. Headfonics say it "easily ranks as one of the most agreeable sounding" flagships. "Atrium is a must-have" to Part-Time Audiophile, "an outstanding fit for a wide variety of listening rigs". Not only does it expand the range of spatial sound experience first incepted with the Auteur, through its shared biocellulose driver heritage, it also introduces ZMF's Atrium Damping System. [See Product Desc. For More] Atrium allows Zach Mehrbach full control over a soundscape, with the grille and cup venting making it the most open headphone he has introduced to date. These acoustic design innovations show up audibly with Atrium. A tremendously open listen, the cups draw zero attention to themselves when playing, virtually never colouring the sound as if they disappeared. Atrium stages wide but always sounds natural and effortless. The illusion of frontal image, depth and height have never been more apparent even among other class leaders in Head-Fi, till now. The patented Atrium Damping System perfectly illustrates how far up the R&D ladder ZMF have come. Starting with biocellulose, stiff and lightweight as a diaphragm material, this fibre also promises excellent damping. Biocellulose allows ZMF to keep the large 50mm driver under control at all times even as frequencies rise, averting any harsh intermodulation due to cone modal break-up. The Atrium system then works hand in hand with the driver, allowing ZMF to choose how little or much back-wave damping is needed from the negative impulses of the driver, which back waves they had to keep, and which they want to get rid of, for the optimal acoustic headphone system. An incredible amount of fine-tuning takes place selecting distances within the cup and damping material for optimal airflow, a three-year process before ZMF deemed ready to release their labour of love to the public. Atrium brings everything ZMF owners have loved about their existing open-backed models, and adds a new expression of sound that ramps up the technicalities, spatial awareness, and enjoyment, while retaining the natural biocellulose timbre that audiophiles dream of. ZMF Headphones Caldera ClosedZMF Headphones Caldera Closed

    ZMF Headphones Caldera Closed

The Caldera Closed is a planar-magnetic revelation not just for ZMF Headphones, but for Head-Fi. Here's a closed-back sister to Caldera Open that packs heaps of reference-level resolution, soundstage and tonal accuracy. Most importantly, its raw detail and way of extracting musical information does not come at the expense of proper musical immersion, or pure, simple fun. Headfonics write this flagship "is a very easy recommendation". It's a TechPowerUp award-winner. Caldera Closed doesn't suck the life out of music as some other closed-back planar-magnetic flagships gone by in recent history have.  Far from being a dead scientific instrument, this ZMF adds on to the fun factor, mirroring its open counterpart's engagement factor behind the privacy of closed cups. Zach Mehrbach's latest Caldera Asymmetrical Magnet Structure (CAMS) and Atrium Damping System (ADS) realisations prove closed-back headphones are no longer inferior to open-backs – they're just differently flavoured, and equally capable. [See Product Desc. For More] Caldera Closed's biggest strength at the drawing board was that it was designed from scratch. While it walked the same path as Caldera Open, Caldera Closed breaks the mould with a cup shape inspired by the rugged, geometric form of a volcanic caldera. Its unique, asymmetrical curves not only look striking, but also allow the exceptional sound of our drivers to truly come alive. With a new asymmetrical magnet array working for – not against or apart from – earcup acoustics, ZMF's original work merged their two biggest technical accomplishments into one headphone. Certainly, CADS birthed Caldera Closed together with the Atrium Damping System (ADS). CADS starts with trapezoidal N52 magnets that shape and optimise airflow either side of Caldera's 80mm planar driver minimising turbulence and phase issues.  It's a volcano-like magnet structure that allows air to naturally spread out, and maintains a slightly asymmetric force making the membrane more nodal, pushing a massive amount of air towards the ear while diffusing it at the same time. Macro dynamics are a given but it's micro-dynamic reproduction that distinguishes Caldera Closed. The traces in proprietary ZMF planar driver film are gold-plated copper, and the diaphragm is coated with silver to maximise excursion along the traces. It's not just sheer driver size producing authority and slam – actual pistonic excursion akin to dynamic drivers reproduces tiny gradations in SPL. This sees Caldera Closed's timbral resolution on par with the likes of its Open, Atrium and Vérité counterparts.  Atrium Damping minimised back-wave cancellation from the rear of the driver, for more pressure to be exerted in a controlled manner towards the ear, carefully away from the back volume at determined frequencies. The smallest details made all the difference to a driver with as much resolution as Caldera Closed produced, and ZMF extended their research to earpads with three depth variances released for a complete ecosystem of accessories. All Caldera pads bear fluting – the tapering of rim thickness and circumference back to front – officially sealing the integral role oft underestimated items play on the ZMF tuning process. Already, Caldera Closed's combination of Atrium Damping plus the horn-like acoustic amplifier its sculpted earpads take the form of ensure substantially better SPL loading of the driver ear-side. With sensitivity at a high 95dB ensured by these added implements, the driver and motor are then freed to focus on mustering as much deep bass extension as possible from the air volume within limited cup enclosures. This is a closed headphone, so naturally it works as meant to from portable sources. Caldera is a call to experiment with amplifiers, so big-small devices such as Cayin Audio's C9ii, HiBy Music's FD5, R8II and RS8 and Enleum's HPA-23RM throw their hat into the ring to work very satisfactorily. At the desk and in a public office, compact voltage sources like that fit the desk only enhance the performance. The solid-state route is straightforward with Questyle Audio's current-mode desktop flagship CMA18. The Cayin iHA-8 and HIFIMAN EF500 are absolutely capable. That's exactly the kind of attention Caldera Closed deserves, the planar-magnetic cherry on the ZMF cake that completes the circle from the very first days Zach Mehrbach spent modding venerable Fostex T50RPs. Caldera is a headphone unlike any other, entering a world of planar magnetics yet not being entirely of it. ZMF Headphones Atrium ClosedZMF Headphones Atrium Closed

    ZMF Headphones Atrium Closed

With Atrium, it's all possible. Atrium Closed follows closely in another advertisement of what the Atrium Damping System (ADS) can do for ZMF Headphones. Following on a year after the titular Atrium which opened up new possibilities for ZMF, Atrium Closed is a worthy sequel. This closed-back flagship promises isolation and arguably Head-Fi's biggest sub-bass response, yet still exhibits the huge soundstage that defines its open counterpart. This soundstage was a result of ADS granting ZMF tuning potential of Atrium Closed, in particular diffuse field control, through segmented airflow. Headfonics hails it as the complete headphone with "power and body on the low end ... for a closed-back it sounds spacious". It landed on Headfonia's Recommended Buys list. Zach Mehrbach diffuses the airflow on each side of Atrium Closed's 50mm biocellulose driver. With separate cavities around a diffuser within this ZMF's cup, an exciting, vast and unforgettable sound is achieved – all behind the isolation of closed earcups. [See Product Desc. For More] All this tuning potential in earcup acoustics extends to Atrium Closed's owners with new Caldera earpads the stock options. Their special fluted, tapered, horn-shaped design take on the form of acoustic amplifiers. Indeed, Atrium Closed won Part-Time Audiophile's Reviewers Choice award. Leather or suede directly contribute to which frequencies you choose to enhance, making Atrium Closed such a pleasure because ADS makes it so versatile. Atrium grants ZMF full control over a soundscape, with internal cavity design challenging the physical limits of linear full-range reproduction in closed-backs like never before. The latest acoustic design innovations show up audibly with Atrium Closed. That vast soundstage is granted by gradual diffusion through multi-weighted materials and zoned sonic diffusion behind and around Atrium Closed's driver. Acoustic dampers work closely together with driver mounting position for optimal diffusion effects, allowing ZMF to introduce greater perceived soundstage width and depth.  ADS is now complete with fluted, horn-like, Caldera pads – leather versions expressing a disposition to deep, impactful, pounding and immersive sub-bass; suede material, very reminiscent of how the Harman Curve dictates a mid-range should become emphasised.  Indeed, this frequency manipulation of the patented Atrium Damping perfectly illustrates how far up the R&D ladder ZMF have come. Starting with biocellulose, stiff and lightweight as a diaphragm material, this fibre also promises excellent damping. Biocellulose allows ZMF to keep the large 50mm driver under control at all times even as frequencies rise, averting any harsh intermodulation due to cone modal break-up. Atrium Closed brings everything ZMF owners have loved about their existing open-backed models into an isolated model. ZMF Headphones CalderaZMF Headphones Caldera

    ZMF Headphones Caldera

Acoustics are the name of the game building planar-magnetic headphones, and ZMF Headphones have made acoustics their playground. That spells good news for Caldera Open as Zach Mehrbach’s first, original, planar-magnetic headphone release, an implement of everything he’s learnt acoustically. Such is the groundwork that can be had from cutting one’s teeth building brilliant dynamic driver headphones. The biggest compliment to give ZMF’s asymmetrical double-sided planar-magnetic Caldera Open is that it sounds six years in the making – exactly the whole R&D process.  The influence of Caldera Open’s patented acoustic system, dubbed Caldera Asymmetrical Magnet Structure (CAMS), is so great that this flagship is named after the basin-like depression resulting from the explosive collapse of a volcano – also the shape of its airflow management system. The success of such implements has now spawned Caldera Closed too. So here’s a release that’s landing ZMF on the planar-magnetic map with a bang, tuned partly in reference to the Harman Curve and sure to impress with the authoritative wall of sound such drivers are known for … yet maintaining the effortlessness, micro-dynamics and resolution their dynamic driver releases symbolise. [See Product Desc. For More] It leapt onto Headfonia's Recommended Buys list. Headfonics "was simply not expecting this huge emotionally enjoyable sound complete with that trademark easy-to-listen-to tuning" from an "incredible high-end debut planar". Headphonesty calls Caldera "art for music's sake". Audio Discourse says this release is a totally clean slate for ZMF. Caldera Open's biggest strength at the drawing board was that it was designed from scratch. With a new asymmetrical magnet array working for – not against or apart from – earcup acoustics, ZMF's original work merged their two biggest technical accomplishments from 2022 into one headphone. Certainly, CADS birthed Caldera Open together with the Atrium Damping System (ADS). This sees Caldera Open's timbral resolution on par with the likes of its Atrium and Vérité counterparts.  Indeed, Caldera Open won Part-Time Audiophile's Reviewers Choice award, winning similar accolades too on TechPowerUp. Armed with the technological potential of CADS, 2022's release of ADS was the key taking Caldera's design to 11.  Atrium Damping minimised back-wave cancellation from the rear of the driver, for more pressure to be exerted in a controlled manner towards the ear, carefully away from the back volume at determined frequencies. The smallest details made all the difference to a driver with as much resolution as Caldera Open produced, and ZMF extended their research to earpads with three depth variances released for a complete ecosystem of accessories. Yet for the very best performance, make use of ZMF's purely resistive, 60ohm flat impedance and electrical phase for a happy match with transformer output tube amplifiers from Cayin and Feliks Audio, or Enleum's HPA-23RM. Perfect voltage sources can't hurt either and the solid-state route is straightforward with Questyle Audio's current-mode desktop flagship CMA18. The Cayin iHA-8 and HIFIMAN EF500 are absolutely capable. And the dCS Data Conversion Systems Lina, with unlimited damping factor and resolution, finally milks every drop of performance left untapped in Caldera Open. That's exactly the kind of attention Caldera Open deserves, the planar-magnetic cherry on the ZMF cake that completes the circle from the very first days Zach Mehrbach spent modding venerable Fostex T50RPs. ZMF Headphones Auteur Classic

The Auteur Classic is the resurrection of the pillar that has anchored ZMF Headphones' flagship line of headphones. Auteur Classic's gets the Atrium Damping System upgrade to bring its biocellulose driver to new heights. It's the fulfilment of the potential from Auteur's drivers – an even-handed approach through the frequency range gains new dimensions of headstage. The upgraded acoustic enclosure enables Auteur Classic to exhibit top to bottom control across the frequency range, yielding extremely detailed, authoritative, yet natural sound. Paying homage to its predecessor, ZMF Founder Zach Mehrbach hails the Classic upgrade as boasting more air, resolution, dynamic range and a smoother, blacker sound, while retaining everything that the original Auteur was. [See Product Desc. For More] Stereophile were already sold by the OG, barely believing "how relaxed and unbelievably transparent" the Auteur was, as it "rendered diverse recordings at what I consider to be the highest levels of audio verity, exceeded only by the preternatural resolving powers of the HiFiMan Susvara, the Abyss AB-1266 Phi, and now, the closed version of ZMF's new Vérité headphones, which are named, simply, the Vérité Closed". That's some illustrious company for the Auteur Classic, and the biggest card in its hand yet is the famed Atrium Damping System that made its debut on its bigger biocellulose brother, the namesake Atrium. The Atrium system then works hand in hand with Auteur Classic's driver. It allows ZMF to choose how little or much back-wave damping is needed from the negative impulses of the biocellulose driver, which back waves they had to keep, and which they want to get rid of, for an optimal headphone acoustic system. An incredible amount of fine-tuning takes place selecting distances within the cup and damping material for optimal airflow. Atrium Damping was a three-year process before ZMF deemed ready to release their labour of love to the public, breathing new life into the company's quintessential model – the Auteur.
