    Sennheiser IE600Sennheiser IE600

    Sennheiser IE600

600 means so much more than a number to Sennheiser. After the HD600 proved so much of a generational product, naming the IE600 shows exactly the expectations Sennheiser have for their next genre-defining IEM. StereoNET gave it an Applause Award and didn't expect Sennheiser's middle-child to mount such a shot at the top. Headfonics found it the "most credible-sounding monitor I have tested from Sennheiser in a while".  "Ad perfectum compromissum" is what Headfonia say "IE600 really is, the perfect blend between the reference IE900 and the super-fun IE300". Sure enough, IE600 is the name on every audiophile's lips. The iconic number permeates all levels of Head-Fi, and it's impossible not to be excited by another watershed release that will become so much more than a great transducer to gravitate around. [See Product Desc. For More] We know we've reached another height of research and development – Sennheiser's buzzwords – when this single dynamic driver wonder swept to multiple awards at launch. T3 and LBTechreviews both score IE600 full marks. the Ear cites it's a great example of a premium wired earbud's supremacy. That shouldn't come as a surprise. Sennheiser have tuned IE600 with the best form of neutrality, the kind that every discerning – even mildly – music lover can come to enjoy. Universally. Because there is always something to love from a transducer that can simultaneously render accurate bass, and properly judged vocals. Being able to deliver detail without compromise, yet not needing to die by being able to hear everything as its only asset. IE600 gets so much right without even trying, a veritable sweet spot everyone loves. The real significance of the 600 moniker, on show. Darko.Audio podcast · Sennheiser IE 900, IE 600 & IE 200: the what & the why Pairs of by-now standard 7mm TrueResponse drivers built in Wedemark, Germany, form IE600's beating heart. An acoustic back volume to the dynamic driver's rear, and dual resonator chambers to the front, give this the basis to perform.  Sennheiser unlock IE600's tuning potential from the drawing board, 7mm diameter small enough to climb in frequency without cone or modal break-up, while supplying it with enough air volume to move and manifest a long, slow bass wave with full authority. Moving up, IE600 wouldn't be a Sennheiser if it was without soundstage. So its dual resonator chambers D2CA manage airflow to your ear such that voices and instruments in a realistic headspace get delivered with solid images to your ear. Sennheiser IE200

EDC has a new name – Sennheiser's IE200. Taking IE600 and IE900's DNA to new heights of affordable excellence is Sennheiser's long-awaited entry-level earphone release, with performance exceeding its humble origins. It confidently takes StereoNET's Applause Award. And Headfonics praises IE200 for "this very competitive price point ... get a slice of their higher-end models". Pairs of by-now standard 7mm TrueResponse drivers form IE200's beating heart. And contemporary, exciting, bass and treble response disguises just how friendly its tuning is, for Sennheiser enabled owners to tune their pairs. Whether you're listening on your commute or monitoring with IE200, Sennheiser built in adjustable tuning profiles – by shifting eartip presentations one can enjoy bass reproduction of varying intensity in the same IEM! [See Product Desc. For More] Sennheiser are on a mission to expose the masses to great, balanced sound. Despite being the most affordable entry of the line-up, these German giants unlock IE200's potential from the drawing board. A polymer TrueResponse 7mm driver small and damped enough to climb in frequency without cone or modal break-up, while supplying it with enough air volume to move and manifest a long, slow bass wave with full authority, shows up as standard to give IE200 the basis to perform. Sennheiser apply cost-effective acoustic fleece in IE200's nozzle for much the same purpose as their dual and tri-chamber absorbers found in the IE600 and IE900. Expertly calculated damping material dials in treble performance for diffuse-field equalisation, great soundstage and fatigue-free highs without frequency peaks or troughs that cause masking. And IE200 hides its most unique tuning feature up its sleeve, for owners can position eartips at pre-determined lengths of the nozzle to expose an auxiliary bass vent Sennheiser snuck into the nozzle.  Fully-attached eartips sees IE200 default to type with tastefully emphasised bass and treble responses. But sliding them out exposes a vent that tunes down bass quantity, still maintaining the great low-frequency foundation Sennheiser birthed IE200 with – yet giving mid and high frequency detail even more room to shine. Darko.Audio podcast · Sennheiser IE 900, IE 600 & IE 200: the what & the why For those missing their Bluetooth wire-less, worry not – Sennheiser's high quality 3.5mm cable braided for strength and IE200's ergonomic excellence just enhances comfort. And convenience. Not to mention sound quality. Indeed, those who have made Bluetooth modus operandi and are looking for wired quality should make IE200 their first stop. Sennheiser IE900

Sennheiser is synonymous with history and a tradition of excellence. Now, with IE900, the association's with new ideas and fresh inspiration. It's on Audiophile-Heaven's Hall of Fame. Demo with Cayin Audio's RU6, iBasso Audio's DX240 and Questyle Audio's QP2R as instant, synergistic, matches. This historic Head-Fi juggernaut stands poised to be a leading light for the next generation, producing the best kind of reference-tuned U-shape. IE900's treble sparkles and breathes, given foundation by a very pure sense of sub-bass authority, with a soundstage that escapes far beyond the confines of the shells. [See Product Desc. For More] Darko.Audio podcast · Sennheiser IE 900, IE 600 & IE 200: the what & the why Defined by its groundbreaking, original work on headphones, Sennheiser miniaturises its progress for a flagship IEM. There's nothing small about this flagship as a technical feat, though. Its baseline begins with a 7mm dynamic driver termed TrueResponse® XWB (Extra Wide Bandwidth). It's all about the ends of the earth, and the frequency extremes, that defines IE900's ambitions. It's remarkable how the legendary Sennheiser soundstage shows up and casts itself into the expanse, far beyond the confines of minute shells CNC-carved in Germany from a single block of aluminium.  IE900's single driver does the work of many, with a pure and fast bass reminiscent of the kind produced by the best balanced armatures. XWB doesn't do it alone; it receives some help from a special Sennheiser back-shell cavity. Supplying enough air volume to produce low notes, IE900 balances the perfect amount of quantity and quality. Quality is the word that comes to mind perceiving this flagship's highs. Experience with helmholtz resonators in the HD800S allowed Sennhesier to target unwanted resonances and grain. Clean treble is the word, as detail in your music soars effortlessly up and into the ether. IE900 drew praise from Headfonia for living up to the expectations of a big release from a big company – it was named the publication's Best UIEM of 2021. With included 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced cables, it's an IEM that both the audiophile and mainstream market can appreciate, justified by What Hi-Fi?'s 5 ⭐ award. It's Alpha Approved on Alpha Audio NET. StereoNET give IE900 an Applause Award for an "incredibly detailed, airy, lean, clinical music listening experience" – it made the same publication's Products of the Year shortlist 2021 later. This is performance you can achieve by browsing the music players that would give you glorious musical satisfaction together here. Begin with Cayin Audio's R2R RU6 and tube N3Pro, iBasso Audio's DX240 or Questyle Audio's QP2R, as instant, synergistic, matches. Ask The Crew

    Sennheiser HD660S2

It's really all about that bass, and then some, with HD660S2. The latest in the legendary line of Sennheiser's HD6XX comes with the best bass response imparted in nearly 30 years of history. Soundnews quickly hailed HD660S2's reach down low. It's "a clear technical step up on the HD 660S" to Headfonics, made Headfonia's Recommended Buys list and gets a StereoNET Applause Award. The Ear says HD660S2 "delivers a richer and more refined listening experience".  Audiophile-Heaven "easily recommends HD660S2 to basically anyone". TechRadar thinks they're studio-grade. Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity echo they're uncoloured. Sennheiser's acoustic expertise is behind HD660S2's descent a half octave lower than its predecessor HD660S. With a response better than 60Hz at -3dB, HD660S2's bass improves both in quantity, and in quality. Deeper sub notes, once only hinted at and obscured by comparison to Sennheiser's famous mid and high frequencies, show up in force here. And a slower, shallower, roll-off means HD660S2's more accurate phase response leads to fast, precise, bass dynamics and slam – never slow nor wooly. [See Product Desc. For More] Sennheiser carefully experimented on driver backwave dampening in the magnet hole of HD660S2. By removing damping material that had been characteristic to HD600 and HD650's design – and bass shortfall – Sennheiser were able to lower the resonant frequency of HD660S2's driver from 110Hz to 70Hz. Cutting the air resistance as HD660S2's driver moved backwards out of phase allowed greater pistonic travel in a surround that could work more effectively producing the long, slow waveforms of low frequencies, without needing to be more compliant.  Sealing and optimising airflow around Sennheiser's famous Duofoil transducer also channels different frequencies more efficiently towards the ear and preserves a shallower dB/octave roll-off in HD660S2's bass – directly also responsible for its greater frequency and phase performance down low. By working for, not against, Sennheiser's customary 38mm dynamic driver that's able to climb in frequency without cone or modal break-up owing to its humble proportions, modernised cup acoustics allow HD660S2 greater pistonic excursion to produce bass waveforms. The maximum potential is milked of this driver. It convincingly pulls off the best low-frequency performance in a HD6XX headphone yet. HD660S2 is back to being a low-distortion affair too, with a return to a 300ohm voice coil kept thin and light – 10 per cent lighter than its predecessor. Inertia is low and Sennheiser's driver reacts instantly to the smallest voltage impulses. Indeed, it's a 300ohm load that's simultaneously easy to drive for any partnering amplifier, such that a tube amplifier mates comfortably with high damping factor and impedance matching.  HD660S2 comes terminated in balanced 4.4mm also meaning many modern bridge-tied load outputs on music players won't grind their gears pushing into inordinately low impedances, small power supplies and output stages producing less in the way of distortion and noise as a result. This Sennheiser will make for a happy result running from iBasso Audio's DC04 Pro and DX170. But even high output impedance, imperfect voltage sources from FiiO and Shanling will not be tested untowardly either – music players from the latter both having enough mettle to push HD660S2 very satisfactorily.  More bass, more ways to enjoy it make for more reasons to get acquainted with Sennheiser's latest child – and urgency to own it. Vocals are reproduced faithfully, with no unnatural emphasis on any specific band. Finally, HD620S's reference-grade 42mm transducer with a large diaphragm and lightweight voice coil delivers exceptional impulse response, ensuring the music attacks and decays with accuracy. [See Product Desc. Sennheiser's high-damping 150-ohm aluminum voice coil delivers crisp transients and instrument decays, resulting in impactful dynamics throughout HD620S's entire frequency range – a win for audiophiles and gamers who crave rich sonic detail. The HD620S boasts a legendary design known for its exceptional comfort, a favourite among audiophiles, gamers, and streamers alike. Its metal accents are not just for aesthetics; the steel backplate effectively isolates sound, minimising internal reflections that can muddle the audio. Sennheiser's cleverly angled baffle promotes airflow, mimicking the behaviour of open-back headphones and recreating the expansive soundstage of a high-end speaker setup in a perfectly tuned room. HD620S's immersive experience places you right in the heart of the action, whether you're enjoying a rare live recording or an intense online multiplayer battle. The trade-off between open and closed-back headphones is a familiar one for audiophiles. Open-back designs offer a more natural sound and wider soundstage, but leak sound and provide little isolation. Closed-back headphones excel at blocking out external noise but often come at the cost of a more "boxy" sound. HD620S represents a breakthrough, achieving the spacious soundstage desired by audiophiles without the drawbacks of typical closed-back headphones. Sennheiser HD820

Tucked behind Corning Gorilla Glass is Sennheiser's HD800S driver to give us the closed-back HD820. Beyond the practicality of listening in privacy and isolation, the opportunity to go closed also brings unique opportunities to tweak flavour. The HD820 is very much the first Sennheiser many can feel, as hear – a truly unique proposition in today's high-end market. [See Product Desc. For More] // The preceding HD800S is popularly viewed as the open-back equivalent of the HD820, after they've tested Sennheiser's waters with the HD600, HD650 and HD660s. // Care tip: We recommend changing earpads every year or two for hygiene reasons. Check out the KITO or YAXI range if you need to freshen the headphones up. Bad smelling headphones aren't cool.  // For added headband comfort: Check out the DEKONI Nuggets.
