Vision Ears EXT Mk.IIVision Ears EXT Mk.II

    Vision Ears EXT Mk.II

Vision Ears unleash Elysium EXT MK II, the same dynamic-electrostatic flagship with enhanced performance and a slimmer nozzle for an easier, more universal fit. It lands right on Headfonia's Recommended Buys list, with Headfonics applauding "the company's most bombastic and 'fun-sounding' IEM ... produces one of the best bass performances in the market". The hype remains about this hybrid, because a big bass dynamic driver and four electrostatic driver complement yield extreme performance at the frequency extremes. Enhanced bass and treble units flank the ever-reliable mid-range dynamic driver that's tuned with an enhanced High-precision Acoustic Levelling Chamber (HALC), featuring Side Tuning Chamber (STC). EXT MK II's mid dynamic driver is where the whole experience meets in the middle, tying the performance of this six-driver Vision Ears flagship together seamlessly. [See Product Desc. For More] Two years were what Vision Ears needed to develop their dream dynamic driver for bass reproduction. Selecting aluminium-magnesium to form a generous 9.2mm diameter, this bass driver works as advertised, providing plenty of presence, drive and rumble in the depths of your music. Hard and stiff as a diaphragm held securely in place by a liquid silicone rubber surround, EXT MK II's bass unit is capable of plenty of excursion while under the full control of a N52 neodymium magnet. Movement remains pistonic till it's time to transition to its smaller 6mm mid-range counterpart. HALC optimises EXT MK II to produce the same mid-range meat that defined Elysium, and STC aids further bringing an enhanced richness to vocals and definition to instruments.  The optimisations to shell shape with EXT MK II adopts the ergonomic work Vision Ears put into VE10 to increase the effectiveness of these acoustic implements. With a more svelte nozzle shape, and a narrower bore accomodating a wider set of ears, a more universally perfect seal is ensured on EXT MK II, allowing HALC and STC to make their effect heard more as intended. Crafted for mid-range frequencies, EXT MK II's 6mm aluminium-magnesium mid driver pushed by double N52 magnets is up to the task. At the optimum size and stiffness to come down in frequency to take over from its bass sibling, before being small and damped enough in turn to pass up to four treble electrostats, this specialised unit gets the job done with minimal cone or modal break-up. That's also thanks to the use of a high-order crossover keeping drivers in their frequency comfort zone without overlap. Finishing the show at the top are four second-generation Sonion tweeters found right at the spout to yield maximum SPL and the most direct path to your ears. Indeed, EXT MK II's unique design isn't just style without substance. Vision Ears were deliberate with placement for the best acoustic network, and the vented rear of their flagship is encased with acoustically-open metal mesh for the largest perception of headspace and soundstage.  Enjoy EXT MK II with the best modern sources to date more than capable of handling its three-way crossover, with Questyle Audio's M15I, the Cayin Audio N6III, HiBy Music R6 Pro II and R8II, as well as iBasso Audio D16, PB5 and DX340.  And what a new arrow to the Vision Ears bow EXT MK II is proving to be, another great way to enjoy the house sound of these personal audio artisans. Vision Ears VE10 UIEM

When one's identity is as rock-solid and well-defined as Vision Ears, you don't change it – you work at bettering it. Such is the case with their VE10 flagship earphone, celebrating 10 years of history through 10 drivers. It's already on Headfonia's Recommended Buys list, and a fitting celebration for Vision Ears to Twister6. It's a roaring success on The Headphone List. The next chapter in the journey of Amin, Marcel & Oliver unfolds with the VE10, maintaining the beloved smooth yet reference tonality cherished by Vision Ears fans. However, this edition introduces the highest level of resolution, presence, and substance ever achieved in a Vision Ears IEM. Crafted as a hybrid 10-driver flagship, the VE10 boasts a CNC-machined housing made of anodised aluminium. This material was chosen to accommodate a sophisticated internal acoustic network, featuring a physical low-pass filter for its 8mm dynamic driver. It shows up in VE10's sound, with a bass that lays down a visceral experience for the foundation of this Vision Ears' down-sloping reference tuning. Handling the mid and high frequencies are nine balanced armatures, including a horn-loaded tweeter that imparts a renewed, vibrant sparkle to the treble, delivering the most apparent resolution in any Vision Ears IEM to date. [See Product Desc. For More] Indeed, embedded within the VE10 is the hallmark of the VE line of earphones: a trusted and true sound embraced by studio professionals, musicians and audiophiles alike. Yet, it never strays into sterility, always providing the immersive experience that the latter crave. The precision remains unwavering in the VE10, even with the introduction of a dynamic driver. While the air's movement adds extra thump to the lows, it crucially maintains the fast, expertly-integrated bass that has long symbolised all Vision Ears monitors. In fact, Vision Ears centre the whole VE10 experience around this driver, marking the debut of a dynamic transducer in a VE series IEM with a physical, robust presence that literally shakes the earth around. Capable of great pistonic excursion, speed and high Q factor, the lessons this new dynamic driver learnt from Elysium and EXT are evident in VE10. The 8mm diameter of the dynamic driver enables it to ascend in frequency without encountering cone or modal break-up, facilitating a seamless handover and crossover to the VE10's nine balanced armatures higher up. Its low-order shallow roll-off means this dynamic driver achieves greater phase coherence than BA alternatives. This handover is aided by an intricate internal structure featuring an acoustic low-pass filter for VE10's dynamic driver. Remaining true to their practice of utilising sound tubes but optimising geometry for minimal turbulence and distortion to rival the best tube-less designs, Vision Ears showcase their pedigree with the abundance of drivers akin to a mini-choir producing the tonal density they've made their own. The incorporation of a horn for the VE10's tweeter is a novel implementation of a classic approach. Placing this acoustic amplifier at the output serves to boost the SPL from a balanced armature that moves relatively little air. This design choice ensures that the VE10 doesn't excessively strain its tweeter for volume, operating it in a cleaner and more elegant manner. Rather than succumbing to an exuberance of new technology, Vision Ears adheres to their established sound. VE10 employs these tools as mere aids to create VE's most articulate release to date, but as means to an end, rather than the end itself. The VE10 embodies the ethos of hard work and innovation that defines Vision Ears, making a clear statement that they are here to stay. It positions itself as a testament to enduring quality, laying the foundation for another successful decade. Check out the road that Vision Ears took to the VE10 here, or view our other IEMs here.

    Vision Ears Phonix

From the embers of Erlkönig a new Vision Ears Phönix rose. The former awoke a burning appetite in Head-Fi for an uber-flagship built entirely from balanced armatures, and the 13-driver Phönix has now assumed the mantle of leading this movement. Why change a winning formula – but Phönix did, just enough in the right areas. Small optimisations and improvements here and there, that make a big difference. Shedding Erlkönig's weight, Vision Ears mills each shell of this symbol from a single block of carbon fibre. Losing grams but gaining strength, enough to hold up the weight of expectations, Phönix is finished proudly to take Head-Fi by storm. Sitting above 13 drivers each, a prominent Phönix logo is mounted on a red chrome layer below a beautiful domed sapphire glass faceplate. [See Product Desc. For More] Visually this Vision Ears works a treat, and sonically it backs all that up with a kind of tonal density from bottom to top. Quantity of drivers is a quality of its own, and what Phönix does is only possible with the expert implementation of 13 drivers for a true status symbol. Utterly rich of tone and indulgent in its presentation, a delicate treble also gives rise to a special height of soundstage as this TOTL's X factor. Phönix's prestige carries on into material accessorisation. A premium 23 AWG silver-gold alloy and OCC copper-litz cable comes terminated in 2.5mm for balanced operation straight from the box.  And a genuine leather case mimicking the aesthetics of an exclusive watch display is included to protect your precious Phönix, leather key strap available separately.  The completeness of the package and maturity on show from Vision Ears here was hailed by Headfonia, who unreservedly put it on their Recommended Buys list. Twister6 confirmed Erlkönig has been resurrected.  Headfonics say Phönix's "coherent timbre has an inviting and intoxicating blend of smooth-sounding mids and gorgeously rich vocals backed up by a punchy low-end performance when called upon". Simply undeniable, the Phönix has risen triumphantly to soar as an icon. Whet your appetites by first viewing the rest of our Vision Ears collection here, or our other IEMs here.
